Butterfly – Miss Massey
Welcome to the Butterfly’s class page!
Our class teacher is Miss Massey.
Our class TA is Miss Sabba.
In Butterfly Class we focus on supporting children to learn fundamental life skills such as: communication and language, developing focused attention, sharing spaces with others, emotional regulation, physical safety, fine motor skills, following routines, and following adult lead activities. We also identify and support children’s individual learning goals.
We believe that accomplishing these goals first allows children to then begin to access academic learning
(Pyramid of learning, Taylor and Trott 1991).
Children in Butterfly Class all have an IEP, EHCP or both. Children may also have a risk assessment and behaviour plan. We work together to support children to meet these goals by implementing interventions and learning opportunities that meet their individual needs.
Each child has target time every week, during which, they will work on activities based on the EHCP, SALT and individual class targets written on their IEP. Your child will have three targets, focused on developing their communication, understanding and social interaction. These are reviewed at the end of each term by teachers and SALT. If you are unsure of your child’s targets, you can ask your child’s teacher.
