At Sacred Heart School, the faith and spirituality of our children is nurtured and developed through daily prayer and worship opportunities. Praise and worship sessions are creative and a great source of enjoyment and spiritual nourishment. During these sessions, children pray in a variety of ways including singing, meditating and reflecting on the Word of God. Our children are confident in leading prayer and worship activities and grow to understand the purpose of prayer in their own personal lives. Prayer is at the heart of school life and it is this that supports our Mission in ensuring ‘Every Heart is Sacred’ and that children ‘have life and have it to the full’.

Class Assemblies
Due to social distancing rules, this year we have had to start producing remote assemblies. Classes have filmed their assemblies just with their teachers and the rest of the school have then been able to watch them separately in their classes.

Family & Community
Class 9 Bubble 1 – The Sacred Heart of Jesus
Previously, the children of Sacred Heart came together as a whole school family every Friday to listen to the Word of God. Class assemblies followed the liturgical calendar of the Church and incorporated music, drama and art. At the end of each class assembly, we celebrated the academic, social, moral, spiritual and sporting successes of our children as well as awarding trophies for great attendance and fantastic achievements in reading.
Class 2 Assembly – Our Lady of Lourdes
Class 7 Assembly – The Presentation of the Lord
Class 7 performed their assembly about ‘The Presentation of the Lord’, with children playing the roles of Anna, Joseph, Mary and Simeon.
Class 4 Assembly – Dignity of Work
Praise and Worship
Praise and Worship is one of our favourite ways to pray. Each age phase comes together once per week to worship God through song, movement, meditation and prayer. Praise and Worship sessions are led by our children and provide a wonderful opportunity to listen to The God Who Speaks.
Daily Class Worship
At the end of every school day, our children join together in their classes to worship collectively. Each class experiences the same piece of Scripture and is invited to reflect, respond and go forth accordingly. Children lead their own liturgies and we all love the peace that falls across the school at the end of each busy day. Worshipping together in this way helps to ensure that we carry Christ’s light with us wherever we go.
Many of our children have also enjoyed watching videos from the Mark 10 Mission as part of their Class Worship.
We would encourage children to carry on daily worship at home with their families if they are able to during these difficult times. Here are some useful links to help you if you need any resources.
